Welcome To Clippity-Clop’s

Shorthorns

Clippity-Clop's Laci 1L

The photo at the right shows my youngest brother, Lyndon, showing the first Shorthorn calf that I raised, Clippity-Clop Laci 1L, in the fall of 2001.  This photo was taken at her first show, and Laci did quite well - obviously a case of beginner’s luck.

My Shorthorn numbers have been very modest over the years.  I like to tell the story of when I attended my first Saskatchewan Shorthorn Association meeting.  A friend of mine introduced me and commented that “Merlin has a small herd of Shorthorns”.  I’ve joked many times since that truer words have never been spoken - I had one cow at the time.

Despite such small numbers, I’ve really enjoyed learning more about the characteristics and pedigrees of the breed, as well as the different breeders who have made a contribution to the cattle business over the years.

Of the few Shorthorns that I’ve raised, I think my favorite is a Mandalong Super Flag daughter out of a full sister to Laci.

As I mentioned on the Home page, there is always hope for the future, and I’m looking forward to the possibilities.
